UQ offers enormous capacity in research and academic talent to make a positive difference to the lives of people in developing nations. The idea of sharing UQ resources to empower communities towards self-sufficiency sparks some exciting possibilities.
Providing technical excellence in International Development involves many facets, such as conducting research and supplying data, or designing a training program for delivery at UQ or overseas. Working ‘in-country’ enhances the experience for you, UniQuest, and the communities concerned – but there are also many opportunities to contribute without taking leave from your teaching and research responsibilities.
Involvement with UniQuest International Development can also enhance what you do at UQ, by opening up new avenues for building research data, providing hands-on learning experiences, and generating relevant, challenging case studies.
UQ’s strategic intent is to “exemplify the role of education and research in underpinning the economic and social wellbeing of local, state, national and international communities; and build on the University’s academic strengths, in strategic partnerships with external agencies, including industry, business and professional groups, and with instrumentalities at city, state, national and international levels, helping to find and promote innovative and sustainable solutions to community challenges”.
