UniQuest’s annual Trailblazer innovative ideas competition rewards creative and early-stage research ideas that have the potential to benefit the community, industry or business as well as generate a financial return.

Trailblazer stimulates innovative thinking with a sponsored prize pool of $100,000 across five universities. Entries are accepted from  researchers and students at The University of Queensland, Mater Medical Research Institute, the University of Wollongong, James Cook University, University of Tasmania, and University of Technology, Sydney. Entries from all research disciplines, Faculties and Institutes are encouraged, whether they relate to businesses, products, services or technologies.

Your entry can be an original or novel:

• Theory
• Discovery
• Research outcome or
• Inventionⁱ

The competition helps UniQuest motivate and showcase the extraordinary talents of researchers and students. Many previous competition winners are working with UniQuest to turn their ideas into real-world commercial applications.
