Terms and Conditions - workshops

  1. Only postgraduate students enrolled, and staff active in research employed, at UQ, UOWii, UTSii, MMRIii, JCUii, UTASii and Queensland Health are eligible to attend the workshop.
  2. Applications will be treated as an Expression of Interest.  Should the number of applications exceed available spaces, UniQuest and the respective research institution will determine which applicants will receive funding support to attend. Applicants who have not previously attended a UniQuest two-day intensive workshop will be given priority.
  3. Successful applicants will be notified within three weeks prior to the workshop, and requested to return a signed Letter of Confirmation within one week to secure the place.
  4. Each applicant must obtain approval to attend the workshop from his/her Supervisor before making the application.  The Supervisor must hold a position at a level able to authorise payments of late cancellation fees if applicable. The Supervisor will be notified of the application and requested to provide confirmation that the applicant is eligible for consideration for a place at the workshop.
  5. Should circumstances arise that necessitate the late withdrawal of a confirmed applicant (within four days of the workshop’s first day), the applicant agrees to reimburse $450.00 (+ the cost of airfares if relevant) to UniQuest to cover the costs which UniQuest would still incur despite the late withdrawal.  In the case that the applicant is unable to personally cover these costs, the Supervisor must authorise reimbursement of these expenses to UniQuest.
  6. UniQuest and its research institution partners provide (for eligible participants): accommodation for the night/s of the Workshop; pre-ordered meals; workshop materials; group air transport to and from the designated accommodation and airports; ground transport between connecting airports and the workshop venue; other ground transport as specified in the Transport Requirements section on the application form.
  7. Workshop participants who do not wish to travel and/or be accommodated by the designated carriers/hotels and at the times arranged by UniQuest are responsible for making and paying for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
  8. Workshop participants who choose to travel and be accommodated independently are required to arrive at the workshop venue by 8.30 am for the first session on the first day and should not depart before the end of the final session on the second day (4.30 pm).
  9. Workshop participants are liable for any additional costs they incur such as room service, telephone calls, internet usage, room mini bar, or damages to property owned by the workshop venue and its contractors.
  10. As a workshop rather than a conference, the program is intensive and team-based, requiring the full participation of each participant at every session, including the dinner. A program of activities for spouses, children, etc. is not provided, and as access to the accommodation commences after the resort’s standard 2.00 pm check-in, with rooms required to be vacated before 11.00 am the next day, bringing dependents is discouraged. In fairness to the other workshop participants, UniQuest requires that any participant seeking to bring a partner, baby, children, other family members or pets be aware of this; and that any arrangements and payments for the travel, accommodation, meals, activities, care and supervision of same are the responsibility of the researcher, not UniQuest nor the relevant research institution.

Please note that parts of the workshop may be filmed and photographed for promotional purposes but confidential material will not be included in final footage and images made public.
