Sanitary, Phytosanitary Standards and Biosecurity Management

UniQuest SPS & BiosecuritySanitary  and Phytosanitary (SPS) standards are applied to protect against the risks related to food safety, animal health and plant protection, particularly for goods that are internationally traded.

Biosecurity refers to the measures taken by governments to prevent or manage the risks posed by pests and diseases to their economy, environment and human health.

Both effective SPS standards and biosecurity systems improve a nation's ability to trade internationally (export) and to manage the risks presented by trade (import). UniQuest's experience in this sector draws on the expertise of The University of Queensland, other regional and international technical institutions and access to a range of recognised technical firms and consultants in the field.

We provide training and technical assistance to developing country governments so that they can better manage and implement SPS standards through the use of legislation, risk management tools, pest and disease diagnosis and information management systems.
