UniQuest is working with farmers in the Mekong Region countries of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam to develop better plant health (phytosanitary) systems and access high-value markets.
With traditionally poor agricultural pest and disease management, these countries have had restricted access to high-value international agricultural export markets, and more recently traditional regional markets such as China.
However, in partnership with NZAIDi and UniQuest the Mekong Region countries have been working to build credible phytosanitary services since 2006. Effective and transparent systems for the monitoring and managing agriculturally important pests and diseases in their farming systems are now allowing them to increase their agricultural export trade.
