Developed at the University of Technology, Sydney, VARS allows veterinary clinic staff to move restrained animals safely from a vertical position to a horizontal one. The system consists of an animal harness with clips that secure the animal to an upright panel. Should the animal need to be placed on its side, the upright panel slides to a horizontal position while the animal remains restrained.  The panel takes the weight of the animal and keeps it firmly in place while being lowered.
