Demand for monitoring systems that support older people living at home for longer is increasing. Researchers at the University of Technology, Sydney, are currently developing a system where networked sensors measure the location and status of each resident and communicate relevant information and alerts to care-givers. The system can be expanded and adapted over time to meet changing needs. This non-invasive Tragus Monitoring System solution reduces the need for a centralised call centre; can detect unusual patterns or absence of movement; and can communicate to multiple care-givers.
