Simulation training is used in universities, hospitals, the military, paramedic, fire brigade and police forces. Life-like simulated skin adds realism to the experience, giving the students important clinical cues which may be critical to deciding on the best diagnosis and treatment. Developed by researchers at the University of Technology, Sydney, SimSkin dramatically improves on current simulation technology with its tactile feedback, in the form of colour, heat and moisture changes in a realistic-feeling skin layer over the manikin.
