Researchers at the University of Tasmania have developed a portable capillary electrophoresis (CE) device and conditions for the detection of explosives. The technology has the sensitivity and scope to effectively detect improvised explosive devices in pre and post-blast analysis. Other potential applications include narcotics and chemical weapons detection; environmental analysis; national security; and other commercial purposes.
