OzID

This Ozone Induced Dissociation discovery from the University of Wollongong is a novel on-line method capable of unambiguously locating double bond position in ionized lipids and other unsaturated organic compounds. It provides molecular structure information unavailable from traditional collision-induced dissociation. With its in vacuo technique involving electrospray mass spectrometry, the OzID approach could replace current labour-intensive methods, such as chromatography. Potential applications include neonatal screening, diagnostics, pharmaceutical industry and the food industry.
