MilliSpot - dried blood spot media

The storage and transport of blood samples for later analysis (e.g. of disease markers or drugs and/or metabolites) is complicated by issues of stability and safety as well as the volume required.  Smaller volumes would enable more repetitive sampling in drug metabolism studies. Paper-based media for storing small dried samples (a few mL) render them non-hazardous, but such media is limited in its compatibility and functionality.

Millispot, developed by researchers at the University of Tasmania, provides a new media for storing blood and plasma which enables rapid drying and increased functionality (ease of separation of analyte of interest), whilst maintaining the small volumes of sample required.
