LiS Battery

With the increase in demand for the generation of electricity supply from renewable sources, there is also a greater need for efficient storage of the energy generated. Of the various configurations of lithium ion batteries, lithium-sulphur batteries (LSBs) may provide a valuable yet low cost solution for many high energy applications, such as electric cars and air craft.

Until now, the durability of LSBs has been poor, due to a number of technical challenges.  University of Queensland researchers have developed a new formulation and electrode system that aims to address key challenges that have inhibited the commercial uptake of LSBs.
