Coralture

Marine researchers at James Cook University have developed unique culture systems and breeding techniques for successfully cultivating a number of ornamental fish species in captivity. Replacing the current practice of harvesting ornamental fish from fragile reef ecosystems with a reliable supply of species bred in captivity for the world’s aquarium trade will have a positive impact on global reef conservation. Coralture’s techniques have cultivated several popular ornamental fish and induced captive spawning for many others. Major breakthroughs have also been made on tropical copepods culture.
