CAT-RPM, Contextualised Assessment Tool for Risk and Protection Management, is an assessment tool developed to assess risk and protection indicators, including self, family, school, peers and leisure, community and significant life events. CAT-RPM will have considerable implications for improving current management practices for at-risk youth and can be readily incorporated into school mental health programs or used in correctional centres. The on-line version, to be trialled in a number of schools and youth training centres, will have strong psychometric properties and will measure risk and protective factors while allowing for the poor literacy and engagement levels of many young people at risk.
