AdaptSIG - adaptive digital pre-distortion technique for transmitters

Researchers at James Cook University have developed a new adaptive digital predistortion technique for broadcast (DVB-T, DAB) and radio base station (WCDMA) transmitter applications.  Pre-existing techniques for improving signal strength and quality suffer from suboptimal performance due to measurement errors and increased signal complexity, resulting in larger inaccuracies.

The AdaptSIGTM offers a better solution for managing signal distortion and would be less complex to implement. With AdaptSIG, broadcasters could continuously comply with regulatory standards without the need for regular calibration and adjustment by a service technician. Research has shown that the technology can operate continuously inline with the transmitter, resulting in less maintenance.
