Researchers from the University of Technology, Sydney have developed a 3D concept of soil reinforcement, applying vertical reinforcement to conventional horizontal reinforcement. The innovation provides passive resistances against shearing, making all the layers intact and increasing strength and stability of the reinforced soil. This low-cost technology offers advantages in both static and dynamic loading conditions and can be used for various geo-textiles and geo-grid reinforcement solutions. The 3D concept is valuable in areas subjected to seismic or dynamic activity.
