UniQuest can help researchers access a range of funding programs which support engaging with commercial enterprises – here are just a few.
ARCi Linkages
The ARC’s Linkage Projects scheme enables postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers to engage in industry-oriented research training. UniQuest can help you help you understand what’s involved with this government funding scheme, and information is also available on the ARC website.
Commercialisationi Australia
Commercialisation Australia is a merit-based, competitive assistance program that offers grants ranging from $50,000 to $2M for such needs as skills and knowledge support; CEOi recruitment; proof-of-concept work; and early stage commercialisation costs.
RiB grants
UQ is the leading recipient of this national Enterprise Connect scheme, with its streamlined grant application and turnaround times faster than traditional grants. This scheme supports the placement of university researchers in businesses, to help develop new ideas with commercial potential. The program funds up to 50% of salary costs for 2-12 months. Importantly, RiB grants are also viewed by the ARC as appropriate pre-linkage project funding to develop medium to long-term industry applied research, which can subsequently strengthen and enhance the competitiveness of ARC grant applications.
RIPP
This program funds “near to market” research projects developed arising from collaborations between industry and research organisations. Grants are between $200,000 and $1 million over one to three years, with funding matched by a cash contribution 1:1. Eligible projects are expected to be capable of generating economic, social, and/or environmental benefits to Queensland, especially regional benefits to Queensland.
