Professor Lovell’s sophisticated equipment and specialised expertise have been called on by legal firms acting on behalf of various institutions and organisations. His legal briefs have requested audio tape analyses, face recognition, photographic comparisons; as well as analysis of audio flash cards for voice identification and authentication.  His current research concentrates on CCTV video analysis, automated surveillance for public safety and counterterrorism, and critical infrastructure protection.
