Mr John Heath has over 31 years experience as a Forensic Document Examiner. Until 1991, Mr Heath was Officer In Charge of the Queensland Police Service Document Examination Section. His field of expertise includes the examination and comparison of handwriting and documentation; the examination of false, genuine and disguised signatures; the examination of typewriters and typewriting; the examination of obliterated, damaged and fragmented documents and any other matters pertaining to the establishing, by scientific means, the genuineness or falsehood of handwriting and documents.
During Mr Heath’s career, he carried out examinations for the Police Departments of both Queensland and the Northern Territory, other Government departments (State and Federal), lending institutions and many private firms and companies (including legal firms), involving many thousands of documents and over 3000 investigations. He has undertaken matters in New Zealand, Fiji and Singapore.
Mr Heath has given evidence on over 560 occasions for Supreme, District and Magistrate levels of Court, both in Queensland and the Northern Territory. He is a member of the Australasian Society of Forensic Document Examiners Inc.
