The Global Change Institute (GCI) involves experts in areas as varied as climate change (carbon mitigation and adaptation); human population growth and shift; resource security and consumption (food, energy sources, water and minerals); stewardship of biodiversity and natural ecosystems etc.

The University of Queensland established the Global Change Institute to provide a vehicle for collaborative research, learning, engagement and advocacy in major global change issues.
