As the name suggests, a disclosure is the confidential revelation of an innovation or idea your intellectual property (IPi). Some disclosures lead to exciting new technologies; many ideas are visionary but, unfortunately, have no clear market applications or potential.
We evaluate each disclosure for its commercial viability and if it looks promising, we will work with you to identify and protect your IP and then package it for commercialisation.
It’s important to know that making a disclosure doesn’t preclude you from publishing, nor does it give UniQuest any ownership over the IP. However, patenting can be jeopardised by public disclosure of the invention before the filing of the patent application – publishing in an academic journal, presenting at a conference, displaying posters at a conference, for example. Such a disclosure need not disclose the full detail of your invention to impact on the ability to patent and the value of your idea to a commercial partner.
If you have an idea or research project which you believe may have some commercial potential, contact your MICD before you send out your article or conference paper abstract.
You can also download a Disclosure Form to email to your MICDi.
