Empowering communities towards self-sufficiency and control over their environment, community development is both a process and an outcome at local, institutional and government levels.
We assist development partners in linking individuals and organisations who are working towards a common goal of developing communities and improving service delivery at a local level.
We give direct technical leadership and project management in community development, Community Service Organisation strengthening, NGO accreditation, human rights, community engagement, governance, economic empowerment and rural development, and law and justice.
We understand the impacts of cross-cutting issues such as gender, disability, HIV/AIDS, protection and climate change. As part of our commitment to ensuring that cross-cutting issues are mainstreamed throughout the project cycle of each activity, we maintain a Gender Focal Group.
Working with UQ researchers and academics, we are continually identifying relevant research, projects and personnel to build on our community development expertise.
