Dr Carrie Hillyard BSc (Joint Hons), PhDi, FTSE
Dr Hillyard co-founded CM Capital and led its Life Sciences practice for over 10 years. She has more than 25 years of experience in medical and diagnostics research, development and commercialisation, and is the inventor of a number of patents. Dr Hillyard has been a member of a number of Federal and State government boards and advisory bodies, providing advice on the development of the biotechnology and venture capital industries. Previous roles include director of CathRx Ltd, member of the Queensland Government's Smart State Council, director of Pharmaxis, CEOi of Bionetworks Pty Ltd, member of the IR&D board, R&D Director at Agen Biomedical Ltd, and lecturer in clinical pathology at Royal Postgraduate Medical School, University of London. She currently serves on the board of the Mater Medical Research Institute. She was awarded a Centenary medal in 2003.

Ms Mary Boydell FCA
Ms Boydell is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years experience in professional services firms, private business and commerce. She is currently the Commissioner of the Queensland Water Commission, Chair of the Gladstone Area Water Board, a director of Energex Limited and a board member of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). Ms Boydell is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Smart State Council established by the Premier of Queensland. Her previous appointments include Chair of the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC); director of Austrade (Australian Trade Commission), BSES Limited and Burnett Water Pty Ltd; board member of the Queensland Bulk Water Supply Authority (and director of its subsidiary South East Queensland Water Corporation Limited); and Chair of Queensland Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Ms Boydell has also served as an external member of audit committees for Airservices Australia; the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Betta Stores Limited; and Maroochy Shire/Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

Ms Butterfield is currently CEO of business, property and infrastructure Project and Strategy Advisers McLachlan Lister, and Senior Vice President for the Australian operations of its parent company, Hill International Inc. Starting with a Civil Engineering degree from Rensselaer University, Ms Butterfield has worked with large and small businesses in Australia and overseas, specialising in project management, business development and strategic planning. Moving into corporate advisory and corporate finance, she has focused on technology and advanced manufacturing-based businesses. Her board and advisory panel services includes the Queensland Micro Technology Centre; the Faculty Advisory Board of the School of Engineering at Griffith University; the AusTrade Strategic “Think Tank”; the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation; and Chair of The Australian Business Foundation. She is a member of the University of Technology, Sydney’s School of Engineering Industry Advisory Network, and the Australian Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators; and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

Professor Dunlop is Executive Director Business Engagement at UQ. He is currently also a Non-Executive Director of, JKTech Pty Ltd, i.lab Incubator Pty Ltd, CMTE Development Limited, EdanSafe Pty Ltd and CBMI Pty Ltd. Professor Dunlop has more than 40 years of experience in materials engineering research, education and commercialisation in Australia, North America, Europe, Scandinavia and Asia. He was previously General Manager Technology of Advanced Magnesium Limited and, prior to that, he was the founding CEO of the CAST Cooperative Research Centre based at The University of Queensland.

Dr Rawlings has more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry. He is a Director of JKTech Pty Ltd and UATC Pty Ltd and was Managing Director of QCT Resources from 1994 to 2000, Director of the Australian Coal Research and World Coal Institute, President of the Queensland Mining Council from 1999–2000, and Chairman of the Australian Coal Association from 1997–1998.He is Chairman of Queensland Energy Resources Limited, and Diversified Mining Services Limited. He recently retired as a Chairman of Northern Energy Corporation.

Mr David Henderson BEng (Hons), MBA
David has more than 25 years experience in technology transfer, new venture establishment, marketing and the growth of technology-based businesses. Prior to joining UniQuest, he managed high-growth software companies in the USA and Australia, consulted for a number of globally recognised companies with Booz Allen and McKinsey, and established an export centre for Queensland Information Technology and Communications firms, which supported a tripling of exports over three years. He was appointed Managing Director of UniQuest in 2001. The company has since established some additional 70 start-ups and the UniQuest portfolio has raised over $450 million of investment and grants to bring university innovation to the market. Global sales of products that use technologies licensed by UniQuest now exceed $3 billion per year, and the company has grown to be one of the largest university technology transfer operations in the world. David has a Bachelor of Engineering from The University of Queensland and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has represented UniQuest on the Boards of a number of venture capital- backed companies, including two which moved to the USA, and Australia’s largest biotech IPO to date.

Maintaining UniQuest’s position as one of Australia’s largest and most successful university technology transfer companies, with group revenues exceeding A$50 million, adds another dimension to Mr Hewitt’s already multi-faceted career. Originally from the UK, where he studied to become a Chartered Accountant and completed a BA (Honours) in Modern Languages, Mr Hewitt spent five years with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu as a Chartered Accountant and Audit Senior. He also honed his technical acumen whilst holding senior financial management positions in organisations operating in a range of industries, including textiles, building materials, cleantech, and private equity. As he draws on his experience in due diligence, acquisitions, integration and capital raising to produce the kind of robust financial intelligence that UniQuest needs to develop positive growth strategies, while ensuring the day-to-day financial processes provide smart and reliable support for that growth.
