To bring about positive change in the Asia-Pacific region, UniQuest's International Development Division focuses primarily on two portfolios: Human Development and Sustainable Economies.
We believe that good development is based on a comprehensive approach that recognises the complexity of relationships between Human Development and Sustainable Economies.
We define Human Development as creating enabling environments in which people can reach their full potential and lead productive, creative and meaningful lives. UniQuest seeks to do this by working with communities that are confronted with challenges such as poverty, low levels of empowerment, and unstable social and political infrastructure. UniQuest understands Human Development to include community focused and culturally sensitive development initiatives, the development of strong and positive governance, building the foundations of reliable and sustainable education systems, and fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency in the communities in which we work.
Our Human Development portfolio includes the specific program areas of:
Sustainable Economies support growth by addressing the complex interactions between the environment, society and the development of commercial activities to achieve sustainable and broad-based economic outcomes. UniQuest aims to improve rural, regional and urban livelihoods throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, with services that promote the effective management of natural and environmental resources, business development initiatives for local producers, and assist governments to address biosecurity, food security, and sanitary and phytosanitary concerns.
Our Sustainable Economies portfolio includes specific program areas of:
Utilising UQ's expertise, we also design and deliver short courses and study tours related to these portfolios, covering public policy, gender, disability, diplomacy, natural resource management, agriculture and food security, leadership, public financial management, project management, water and sanitation, and child and maternal health.
